In December 1995 the Dayton Peace agreement was signed, which regulated the independence of Bosnia-Herzegovina. As part of this agreement a multinational peace keeping force has been formed, and the Netherlands contributed. This peace-keeping force is aimed at providing and establishing a stabilised peace in this region. Also the force contributed to the reconstruction and civil rebuilding of these regions.
Beginning in 2006, the Dutch government decided to take part in a mission in Southern Afghanistan in the province Uruzgan. This mission supports the Afghan government, in providing peace and security. As from 1st of August 2006 for past two years, they have been responsible, for among other things, the reconstruction and rebuilding in Uruzgan.
During these periods, the establishment of retransmissions of electrical power has been required and provided by diesel-generator sets. Which are mainly installed in Power plants, of which approx. 80 diesel powered containerised generating sets have been developed, manufactured and or supplied by Kemper en Van Twist Diesel BV
In order to meet these energy requirements in a very short period of time, a number of KVT 20’ containers were also transported to Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan by air.
